Onlime.ch Webhosting

Onlime.ch WebhostingI am now offering webhosting services on Onlime.ch for swiss customers. Since november 2003, my new server is running, hosted in Germany. My previous server was hosted by ICU, the computerclub of the University of Zurich, where I have been an active staff member. My old machine was called “lime” and each time I’ve uploaded something for my friends, they asked me: “Hey, is it already on-lime?”. That’s how I got to this lovely domain name ONLIME.CH. I got it as a birthday present back in 2002.
As I am soon bringing my studies at UniZH to an end, it’s time to move on and I’ve launched Onlime.ch.

Turjacum.ch

PPhlogger3 development

Finally we are going to inform you about the future of PowerPhlogger. We no longer want to make a secret out of what is going on with the code base of PPhlogger. Currently PPhlogger 2.2.3 is available on PHPEE.COM. In the last couple of releases, no more new features have been added. Most releases were just maintenance releases with a couple of bug-fixes.
Here is the answer to the most asked question “Where have you guys gone?”. No, we were not lazy. We didn’t stop our work on PPhlogger – no, we would never!
Things are different. We started our work on PPhlogger3, the next generation of PowerPhlogger. PPhlogger3 might even deserve the prefix “power”…
PowerPhlogger version 3 is going to be a near total rewrite of the current PPhlogger code base. Current code in version 2.x is quite messy and it was time to change that. Extending the old code and adding new features became harder and harder. We don’t want the future development on PPhlogger to get a complete waste of time, so we decided to start from zero and build a clean code base.

PowerPhlogger

PHP is a great scripting language. It’s getting more and more famous and it’s growing from day to day. As it is an OpenSource project, PHP is coming out with new releases every couple of weeks. A lot of people change over from ASP (Advanced Server Pages) to PHP.

In summer 2000 I started to write PHP. Soon I got fascinated about that language. It’s just perfect for web-applications, especially for accessing databases. I almost got addicted to it! PHP is easy to write and you get into it pretty fast.

I was looking around for a good counter-script to log hits on my site but I couldn’t find anything useful. What I needed was a script that shows me agent-information, time and date, online time, referer, color and resolution… I was looking for some script that counts only unique hits and that allows me also to track downloads.

That was the birth of PowerPhlogger!

Long time I didn’t make the code available to public. It was messed up and not yet ready to publish.
In my first versions I was stored all the data into txt-files. Lateron I started to get into mySQL and redesigned my whole code. Now PowerPhlogger is working as a counter hosting tool and you can give out accounts to your users.
